I normally find myself mixing something old with something modern or new whether it's clothing or home decor. I didn't have to travel too far (must conserve since gas prices are so ridiculously high) to find such great antique and vintage bargains!
But first, I did do a little research.
- Antiques are items from before the 1920's.
- Vintage items are from the 1920's to 1980's.
I had to have this beautiful picture frame for $15! Not sure what era it is (I did ask the dealer) and she did say it's older than I am (before 1970's).
I was also looking for jewelry display pieces and found these beautiful antique items in silver, colorful glass, porcelain, and one with an elegant gold trim.
All in all, that day I scored on 10 antique items for about $40. Since this April day, I've been hooked and never hesitate to stop at any antique or vintage shop! The Sacramento Antique Fair is held on every second Saturday of the month! I was on a mission to find a vintage-inspired mirror but without paying hundreds of dollars. Well I was lucky enough to get this deal!
My most recent find is a Victorian-inspired mirror. The dealer was packing all his items into his truck and this mirror was still on the ground. I asked him, "How much for this mirror?". He immediately responded, "Are you looking for a good deal?". I just wanted to know the price...so he gave it to me for $10! Dealers that don't want to pack everything back up, sometimes offer great pricing an hour before the event ends or before they leave.
It's definitely not a frugal find, but so far my ultimately favorite antique store in Sacramento is Discovery Antiques. They carry tons of vintage Louis Vouitton, Chanel, Prada and other high-end brands in handbags, shoes, sunglasses, jewelry, you name it. It's like a museum in there!
I hope you enjoyed my local antique finds! I am open to other suggestions and frugal ideas, just send me an email to email@example.com and receive $5 off any purchase from my online eBay shop: shopninnalu & madpawshop!
